On Friday, July 31 from 5-9 p.m., the Woolen Mill Gallery at 28 East Main St (2nd floor) in Reedsburg will present Use Your Words, an art show with a unique spin as it will feature the work of literary rather than visual artists. Five writers will take the written word off the page and into the multi-sensory world, presenting poetry and prose in the form of live performance, visual pieces, and interactive projects that invite the reader to put their own creativity to work.
Beginning at 6 p.m., Use Your Words will feature readings of original poetry by Max Garland, 2013-2014 Wisconsin Poet Laureate, as well as contributions by: Laurel Radzieski and Philip Matthews, current writers-in-residence at the Wormfarm Institute. Molly Rideout, executive director of Grin City Collective in Grinell Iowa and a participating artist in the upcoming 2015 Farm/Art DTour will participate along with Betsy Arant, Wormfarm Residency Manager and the show’s guest curator.
The Woolen Mill Gallery is the first stop on the Reedikulus Art Crawl, a walking tour of art in local galleries and storefronts organized by Reedsburg ArtsLink. Visitors can pick up a map and “passport” at any of locations on the art crawl and get punches for each stop they visit. Five punches will qualify for entry a raffle for a basket of original small-scale art and novelties.
The Art Crawl is free and open to the public.
Woolen Mill Gallery is operated by Wormfarm Institute and is open sporadically.
