Roadside Culture Stands
"Eat the View"
Roadside Culture Stands are mobile farm stands designed and built by artists, which are used to display and sell fresh local produce as well as the work of local artists.
Roadside Culture Stands will be located in rural and urban settings. The rural stands will reinforce the message 'Eat the View' - if you want to preserve working rural landscapes, eat from the food chain that created them. The urban stands will be located within inner city food deserts - areas with little or no access to fresh, healthy food, but often served by plenty of processed food or fast food restaurants.
Pilot stand: In 2009, Peter Flanary of Mineral Point, WI, created the first Roadside Culture Stand, partnering with local growers.
Summer 2010: Three more unique roadside stands are rolling out in June and July. Each Culture Stand will have a home base and will also travel to local festivals, county fairs etc., starting in June through October.
