Virginia’s Secret

An Art & History Exhibit

Friday, June 9, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Virginia Ahrens (1914 -1978)

Virginia Ahrens created hundreds of imaginative, provocative drawings in the 1930s, revealing an interior life that she kept hidden from those who knew her. Decades later, after her death, they were discovered tucked between the pages of sheet music in the piano bench discovered by her granddaughter. Did Virginia think they’d eventually be found, or were they intended to remain her secret? Explore this trove of drawings, diaries, and artifacts and decide for yourself.
