Test Plots, a series of unique exhibits, lectures, and field trips in Reedsburg and other Sauk County locations, are named to reflect the role of experimentation in generating community dialogue, learning, and engagement. Each features the work of local and regional artists and thinkers representing the healthy rural/urban flow that is vital to any thriving region. An agri-cultural excursion in the city– via bus from Reedsburg to Milwaukee and back.  Join us as we visit urban farms, neighborhood cultural centers and vibrant gathering places to share art, poetry, food, and ideas. Originating in Reedsburg, the ride itself will be lively with conversation and music. Stops include lunch at Amaranth Bakery and Cafe, a visit to the Terry McCormick Gallery guided by artist Evelyn Patricia Terry, garden tours including the UW Extension Community Gardens, Alice’s Garden, Body & Soul Healing Arts Center, The Beerline Trail Creative Placemaking project, and more.

Adam Carr, an independent, Milwaukee-based tour manager who works at the intersection of community and communication, has customized this itinerary to give Flow riders a sampling of the culture, history, and texture of Milwaukee neighborhoods.

 8:30am:  Depart Reedsburg

 9:30am:  Stop in Madison area to pick up riders

11:00am:  Amaranth Bakery and Cafe– Meet with Dave Boucher, co-founder, of this award-winning café and enjoy a catered picnic lunch on the terrace.

12:40m:  Fondy Food Market – Meet representatives from Milwaukee’s largest and oldest year-round farmers market and enjoy free time browsing the vendors and products.  http://www.fondymarket.org

  1:15pm:  Terry McCormick Gallery – Tour the private home and extensive collection of the work of African American artists with artist Evelyn Patricia Terry. http://www.evelynpatriciaterry.com/

  2:30pm:  Clock Shadow Creamery – This is Sauk County’s own Cedar Grove Cheese in the city. Visit “Milwaukee’s original cheese factory” and tour the Clock Shadow Building and roof-top garden.  http://www.clockshadowcreamery.com/

  3:30pm:  Journey House Community Garden ––UW Extension agent Ryan Schone gives a tour of this award winning community garden that works in partnership with Extensions Milwaukee County SEED (Sowing, Empowering, and Eliminating Food Deserts) Initiative   http://milwaukeenns.org/2017/02/02/journey-house-community-garden-source-of-pride-for-clarke-square/

  6:00pm:  Depart for return trip to Reedsburg  (Refreshments/snacks on board.)

  7:00pm:  Drop-off Madison riders

  8:00pm:  Arrive at Reedsburg
