About the tour guide

For the past 15 years, Erika Nelson has investigated, documented, and catalogued self-built worlds, vernacular architecture, and monumental art. Since 2011, Nelson has partnered with International Artifacts, Kohler Foundation, and Parma Conservation to help preserve or restore large scale outdoor environments. Recent projects include S.P. Dinsmoor’s Garden of Eden (KS), Roy and Clara Miller’s Park (KS), St. EOM’s Land of Pasaquan (Buena Vista, GA). Nelson has an MFA from the University of Kansas, and serves as a lecturer through the Kansas Humanities Council. She also serves on the Board of Directors for S.P. Dinsmoor’s Garden of Eden, continuing the work initiated by Kohler Foundation through sculpture assessments, preservation plan development, maintenance and repair of sculptures on-site, and continued monitoring for both Garden of Eden and adjacent Miller’s Park art environments.
